Clarity is your most powerful tool in crafting your message. It confers sincerity, and sincerity, along with competence, builds credibility and trust.

Our political discourse today is full of smoke. As a result, no one trusts politicians. The same occurs in the environmental movement. We talk too much, we write too much, about too many things. We obfuscate, which (irony intended) means we don’t say what we mean.

Brevity is one solution to lack of clarity. It’s hard to be brief if you are covering ten subjects in your communication.

We are often uncomfortable with the truth, so not being clear is and attempt to make us feel comfortable, but it is really a form of dishonesty and laziness. It also bores your reader.

The best communications people in your organization are those that are honest and direct. You can hear it in what they say and write. They are clear.
